Mexico Complains About US Immigration

Once again, Mexican President Calderon was here in America. Again, he was lecturing on freedom in America and how it hurts/helps his people. One of his biggest peeves, the new Arizona law. According to Prison Planet, during a white house visit he commented “Such laws as the Arizona law…is forcing our people to face discrimination,” See http://www.prisonplanet.com/dictator-of-failed-state-lectures-americans-about-freedom.htmlfor complete story.

Calderon says that the new law forces his people to face discrimination. He insists that we cooperate with his government to solve the problem together. Of course, President Obama, being the socialist that he is, will certainly agree and will try to push immigration reform, probably this year, through Congress. Watch how he beefs up his support for Mexico and then hear Calderon complain.

Talk about setting up the beginning of the NAU. Sheesh, how much more of this do we need to see before people wake up to the facts of what is happening here. Just exactly what does Calderon me when he talks about “our people”. What a crock. Every American and Hispanic immigrant should put Calderon in his place. Of course, they wont because they don’t see what is happening.

In other articles I stated that I think its fine for immigrants to come here, so long has they can support themselves. I stand by such. If such were happening then we certainly wouldn’t see Calderon here making this type of speech. In those articles I made the case that the reason so many people come here illegally is because of the benefits they can receive. Remove the benefits and stop letting them suck of society and they wont come here illegally.

Prison Planet was good enough to put it into perspective for us. They listed what happens when people cross the border of other countries in comparison to what happens here in the US.

IF YOU CROSS THE NORTH KOREAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU GET 12 YEARS HARD LABOR.
IF YOU CROSS THE IRANIAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU ARE DETAINED INDEFINITELY.
IF YOU CROSS THE AFGHAN BORDER ILLEGALLY, YOU GET SHOT.
IF YOU CROSS THE SAUDI ARABIAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU WILL BE JAILED.
IF YOU CROSS THE CHINESE BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU MAY NEVER BE HEARD FROM AGAIN.
IF YOU CROSS THE VENEZUELAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU WILL BE BRANDED A SPY AND YOUR FATE WILL BE SEALED.
IF YOU CROSS THE CUBAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU WILL BE THROWN INTO POLITICAL PRISON TO ROT.
If YOU cross the Mexican Border Illegally, you will end up in a Mexican Federal Jail for a very long stay that is NOT very nice! Believe me, you do NOT want to end up in a Mexican Jail!!!!!
IF YOU CROSS THE U.S. BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU GET:
1 – A JOB,
2 – A DRIVERS LICENSE,
3 – SOCIAL SECURITY CARD,
4 – WELFARE,
5 – FOOD STAMPS,
6 – CREDIT CARDS,
7 – SUBSIDIZED RENT OR A LOAN TO BUY A HOUSE,
8 – FREE EDUCATION,
9 – FREE HEALTH CARE,
10 – A LOBBYIST IN WASHINGTON ,
11 – BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF PUBLIC DOCUMENTS PRINTED IN YOUR LANGUAGE
12 – AND THE RIGHT TO CARRY YOUR COUNTRY’S FLAG WHILE YOU PROTEST THAT YOU DON’T GET ENOUGH RESPECT.

Based on this simple list, if you were going to run to a country illegally which one would you want to run to? Again, we should not be worried about the immigrants. Get rid of all these freebies that drain our society and the problem will go away altogether.

Yours in Liberty

Jefferson had two main concerns when he purchased the Louisiana Territory. First it was unconstitutional. Second, that the “new” citizens would bring with them a desire for a strong central government.

Today, these newly arrived peoples, particularly from South America and Mexico, come here with the expectation that the government is obligated to help them with any and all problems. Look at the difference between the Cubans that came here in the late 50’s and early 60’s, and those that came here with the Mariel(sp?) boatlift under Carter. The early arrivals wanted nothing more than Liberty. The later arrivals, taught that the state was the problem solver, wanted help in establishing a new home. The older Cubans took them in, helped them start a business or get work, and taught them, as best they could, that Liberty comes with responsibilities. But it was very difficult for many to not expect the government to solve all of their problems. I worked in Dade (Miami downtown, Hialeah) at the time and witnessed first hand what the communists had done to the minds of their wards. Look at the Haitians that come here, they head straight for the welfare office because that is what they are/were used to. They are not here for Liberty, but for better quality handouts.(This is why we welcome Cubans and turn back Haitians, political v. economical reasons and why Mexicans must go through the legal process)

Nice review JimK. This will be an ongoing issue in the coming elections. I agree totally with the idea that we need to rid ourselves of at least most of the welfare state before allowing everyone in, which is really our position, i.e. open borders. Some times it is tough to be a Lib. Lol …. JimW

  • JimW,

Yes, it is tough being a Libertarian. It is even tougher being a principled one and living by those principles. Someday though, someday, people will understand. When they do the light will go on and this country will be saved. Until then, we are stuck with the garbage we have heaped upon our selves.

Rome was not built in a day and we will not fix this over night. The big problem with garbage is that if you let it sit too long it begins to smell. If you are around it all the time you begin to ignore the smell. The same thing is happening here. Until others come in and alert one to the smell, they probably have forgotten all about it.

It sure does stink. Hope we take out the garbage this election and the next.

  • My mind boggles that you would post such an anti-libertarian piece of crap on a libertarian site! It shows no understanding of libertarianism at all, like basic concepts of supporting a free market, or respect for the individual. It certainly shows no respect for liberty or truth.

For example, you first compare the United States to a group of totalitarian countries. The implication here is that the United States should give up the ideals of liberty and emulate these totalitarian countries!!! Talk about anti-libertarian.

Then there is our list, if I may comment on each…

1 – A JOB – That is called a free market, the basic foundation of a libertarian society. An offer is made and accepted and it improves our economy.
2 – A DRIVERS LICENSE – I would hope anyone driving on our roads has a license. The value is for society, not the individual.
    3 – SOCIAL SECURITY CARD – False
4 – WELFARE – Generally false, and if they get a job as you pointed out earlier, they do not need welfare.
    5 – FOOD STAMPS – Generally false
6 – CREDIT CARDS – This is a product for sale in a free market paid for by the individual that purchases it, and therefore improving our economy. Geeze!!!
7 – SUBSIDIZED RENT OR A LOAN TO BUY A HOUSE – Generally false in the first part, and again in the second part we have a product for sale in a free market paid for by the purchaser and improving our economy.
8 – FREE EDUCATION – Education is for the benefit of society as well as the individual. I want my neighbors to be educated and I’m willing to pay for it.
9 – FREE HEALTH CARE – False except emergency care. Are you proposing to let people suffer and die?
10 – A LOBBYIST IN WASHINGTON – Lobbyist are again products provided by a free market, paid for the people that use the product and improving our economy.
11 – BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF PUBLIC DOCUMENTS PRINTED IN YOUR LANGUAGE – Each illegal emigrant get’s a billion dollars of paperwork???? Documents in multiple languages are for the benefit of society as a whole allowing government to function smoothly, it is not the benefit of the individual.
12 – AND THE RIGHT TO CARRY YOUR COUNTRY’S FLAG WHILE YOU PROTEST THAT YOU DON’T GET ENOUGH RESPECT. – Implied in this complaint is a very strong anti-libertarian thought process! Liberty means liberty for everyone, not just those that think like you. So make up your mind, do you want them to integrate into our society, or keep allegiance with their old society? If the former, support their liberty and self respect and do things to help them integrate instead of trying to make them a separate underclass. If the latter then what exactly is your complaint?

And you forgot all the taxes that illegals pay that pay for most of the ‘free’ items on your list.

    TANSTAAFL!

Does this mean that I do not see problems? I find the current immigration situation absolutely abhorrent! It is a cancer in our society. But the solution cannot and will not be found by spouting out half truths and bigotry attacking those people whose crime is to look for liberty (liberty includes economic liberty). The problem is with the system and with us. The solution must be found in libertarian ideals of respect for the individual and the free market.

  • Marla,

First, let me thank you for visiting our site. I don’t think I have seen you post any comments before so welcome to our little group. I hope you find it enjoyable and will return to voice your opinion more often.

Next, in reading your comments it appears you did not read the full post and/or did not understand the message I was putting across. I would encourage you to read it again. Especially the part where I wrote:
“In other articles I stated that I think its fine for immigrants to come here, so long has they can support themselves. I stand by such. If such were happening then we certainly wouldn’t see Calderon here making this type of speech. In those articles I made the case that the reason so many people come here illegally is because of the benefits they can receive. Remove the benefits and stop letting them suck of society and they wont come here illegally.”

    And this one:
“Again, we should not be worried about the immigrants. Get rid of all these freebies that drain our society and the problem will go away altogether.”

This should have lead you to believe the same exact conclusions you are chastising me about. Somehow you did not get it. Sorry, maybe you read it too fast or something. I don’t know. I figured it was obvious to the most casual observer that I wanted the system changed in favor of a free market enterprise. I guess I was wrong.

The very fact that a despotic leader of a substandard nation could come here to America and make such statements is indicative of just how bad the system really is. The Obama administration is doing everything in its power to remove as many liberties as possible. Including brainwashing the people with visits like these, so that he and his ilk can create more socialist laws and further their agenda to deprive the people of this country of their freedoms.

Lastly, as far as articles are concerned, the direction I want to take is quite simple. All articles should be either Libertarian or Anti-Libertarian in nature. I want it that way to facilitate the discussion between Libertarians and non-Libertarians so that we can hash out ideas and come to conclusions.

As such, even though you came at me for the wrong reason, it is good that you were riled up enough to come. Even though you mistakenly took this as an anti-Libertarian article you had the gumption to stand up for Libertarianism – for that – I thank you.

Welcome, I hope you have a thick skin and will visit here often. You are exactly what this blog needs.

First off, the author copied from a “joke” that went around the web some time ago. His objective was to begin the discussion, not take a dim view of immigrants, legal or not. We do have a problem, as you acknowledge, but the problem can not be solved with emotions. We are open border kind of people like you. I believe we must first dismantle the welfare state, or as much as we can, before we can just let people come here freely. Do you not understand that they know there are better handouts in this country and that is why many have the guts to pull up stakes and come here? It is a tough call for lib’s but most recognize that the horse must come before the cart. I have selected a few responses to your reply. My comments follow yours in brackets [ ].

2 – A DRIVERS LICENSE – I would hope anyone driving on our roads has a license. The value is for society, not the individual. [What exactly is the purpose of the license? What I hope is that they know how to drive and a license does not indicate a safe driver and will not stop bad drivers. Even when a license is taken away it is very easy to get it back.]

4 – WELFARE – Generally false, and if they get a job as you pointed out earlier, they do not need welfare. [The key word here is “generally”…..There are government owned houses/apartments that are provided to legal residents, who then open them up to illegal family members. And then there is the example of “Aunt PaTootie”, the Presidents own aunt, living in Boston in subsidized housing collecting food stamps and other welfare, AFTER BEING ORDERED TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY, ….twice! Do we really want to say that she is the only one in the country?]

5 – FOOD STAMPS – Generally false [Again “generally” is the key, but emergency food stamps are given to just about anyone in any state, as you know.]

7 – SUBSIDIZED RENT OR A LOAN TO BUY A HOUSE – Generally false in the first part, and again in the second part we have a product for sale in a free market paid for by the purchaser and improving our economy. [ There is that pesky “generally” again – so you agree that it is somewhat true.]

8 – FREE EDUCATION – Education is for the benefit of society as well as the individual. I want my neighbors to be educated and I’m willing to pay for it. [You are willing to pay for it, I am not. Do not force me to pay for it because some think it benefits society, like T Jefferson. Home schooled kids are better taught in every way, like T Jefferson, and yet I am still forced to pay for a really terrible school while not being able to claim back some of my school taxes for home school purposes.]

9 – FREE HEALTH CARE – False except emergency care. Are you proposing to let people suffer and die? [There are no “excepts” allowed. We are forced to pay for their health care. When they have a common cold they go to the emergency room. No, I am not willing to let people suffer and die, are you willing to allow me to suffer and die under the weight of an oppressive government? There is no room for emotions here, use your intellect to come up with a different solution to a problem that does not use force or fraud – just think about it.]

[Read a little history, particularly about Ellis Island. Legal immigrants were required to be accompanied by an interpreter, and the ethnic communities supplied them. Documents in many languages CONFUSE society, kind of like it is hard to translate a joke, it is even harder to translate the meaning of a legal document, …something gets lost in the translation.]

[I agree with you, but it is a stick in the eye is it not?]
